“At its core, The Carousel is a love story. An expression of devotion to my craft, to the process of making, and the relationships and memories that shaped my creative journey.” — David Stoltz
The Carousel is an accumulation of David’s sculptural work and an expression of his evolution as a creator.
The Carousel stands as a fully realized artwork, yet it is also conceived to be expanded into a larger, site-specific installation for institutions seeking a monumental expression of the piece.
His woks have been a movement from the forged steel clarity of Constructivist Abstraction toward the playful freedom of Pictorial Abstraction.
In this new period, motion and gesture have begun to take center stage. His current works carry forward the structural rigor of his early sculptures, but translate it into a language of vibrancy, energy, and layered space.
“When I create, I don’t think of my pieces as singular works. My sculptures are conceived as environments and scenes.”
The interplay of balance and form greatly informs the way each individual piece takes shape. The Carousel is an expression of this conceptual process as much as it is a collection featuring decades of the refinement of this new period of David’s work.

The Carousel is a meditation on motion and impermanence. Like life itself, it turns in cycles.
From moments of joy, reflection, stillness, and acceleration. In a single orbit, where structure and freedom, weight and lightness, form and color, circle endlessly around one another.
It is both an artwork and an allegory.
It’s an invitation to ride, to lose oneself in movement, and to rediscover balance at every turn.
